- Business Technology Center
The Business &
Technology Center’s concept is based on an interactive
learning approach geared to teach the functional areas of
business such as bookkeeping, financial planning, marketing
and more thorough information technology. Its primary
objective is to bridge the gap between technical assistance,
entrepreneurial training and small business financing by
providing entrepreneurs with the assistance they need to
identify potential issues within their business and take the
necessary steps to solve them and keep the business operating
successfully. The Center is also accessible to the Omaha
community-at-large, and provides services in the following
areas: computer software training, business seminars and
workshops, small business consulting, affordable office space,
bookkeeping services.
- Enterprise Zone
The One Stop Capital Shop’s
(OSCS) primary objectives are threefold:
- to make adequate and
affordable credit more readily available to small
businesses in the North and South Omaha areas;
- to encourage and maximize
the participation of local commercial and savings bank by
providing gap financing through its unique public-private
partnership; and
- to provide a business
development program through technical assistance to
business owners to strengthen their financial, management
and technical skills.
Businesses requesting financial
assistance from the OSCS loan program must meet several
criteria. Specifically, they must be located within the city,
state and federal Enterprise Zone boundaries and create
employment within the areas of North and South Omaha where 51%
of the jobs created are for residents of North and South
Omaha.
